Bernard Sinclair-Desgagné is currently Professor of Environmental Economics and Global Governance at HEC Montréal, Fellow of CIRANO and Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and the École Polytechnique de Paris. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Université Laval and a PhD in Operations Research from Yale University. He taught successively at INSEAD and the École polytechnique de Montréal before joining HEC Montréal in September 2001. His main areas of research and expertise are related to incentive theory, industrial organization and environmental economics. In 2004, he was elected Fellow of the European Economic Association by his peers. In 2006, he was awarded (with co-author Pauline Barrieu) the Finance and Sustainability European Research Award for the article “On Precautionary Policies” published in the journal Management Science. Since August 2008, he has been a member of the Commission de l’éthique en science et en technologie (CEST) in Quebec.
