Director, Strategic Initiatives, Human Impact Lab
Gillian Nycum is Director, Strategic Initiatives at Human Impact Lab, a non-profit creative studio working in partnership with Concordia University. The Lab works at the intersection of art, technology and data and engages researchers, artists, designers, game developers and interactive programmers to reimagine how we tell the most important and urgent stories of our time; with a primary focus on climate change and the fourth industrial revolution.
Gillian graduated from McGill University Faculty of Law in 2007, having co-founded the McGill Journal of Law and Health in her time as a student. She then worked in health policy research at the World Health Organization in Geneva and at the Université de Montréal.
Between 2004 and 2014 Gillian built a business in music management, managing the business and career strategies, administration, and logistics for Montreal artists Plants and Animals, Little Scream, and Katie Moore.
In 2015, Gillian spent a year as Assistant Dean of Admissions at McGill Faculty of Law followed by a year as Senior Advisor to MP and Parliamentary Secretary for International Trade, David Lametti, before moving into her current role at Human impact Lab.
