Head of Planning and Environmental Monitoring Division at the Environment Department, Ville de Montréal
Environmental issues have always been one of the basic themes of Marieke Cloutier’s professional career. She has had the opportunity to work with the three levels of government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations abroad and international organizations like the OECD.
In 2002, she decided to work for the municipal sector (UMQ, Ville de Longueuil and Ville de Montréal). Since the end of 2015, she has been Head of Planning and Environmental Monitoring Division at the Environment Department of the City of Montreal. The division’s mission is to plan and develop environmental plans, policies and programs related to climate change, ambient air quality, alternative solutions to pesticides such as integrated pest management and various special projects. It works in collaboration with the central services, the boroughs and the related cities as well as the external partners. The division coordinates the development of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction and climate change adaptation plans and monitors their implementation. It works on the development of regulatory guidelines, manages the air quality monitoring network and produces the air balance.
